Being under the guidance of Hari, Guru, and Vaiṣṇavas, if one serves Kṛṣṇa by his body, mind, words, and moods, to make Kṛṣṇa happy, then this is bhakti. Bhakti is continuous. There is no question of engaging in bhakti for a day or two. Bhakti is not contaminated by any worldly desires. The desire for religiosity, wealth, lust, and liberation is absent. Bhakti is not covered by impersonalistic knowledge, fruitive actions, yoga, or austerities. Perform karma that is favorable to bhakti. Knowledge is essential; it is indispensable to know kṛṣṇa-tattva, jīva-tattva, and maya-tattva. But, don’t think, “Without jñāna and karma, it is not possible to engage in bhakti.”
