Srila Gurudeva: Trnavarta was totally crushed, but Krsna had no injury at all. Here, what is the point? Is there any siksa or teaching in this pastime? Is there any teaching? All the pastimes of Krsna have very deep teachings. There is knowledge of the Vedas that is not favorable for bhakti, like nirvisesa jnana that says, “Krsna has no form.” They want to prove by the Vedas that Krsna has no form, He has no attributes, that Krsna is nirvisesa. They say that He is not powerful and that we are also like nirvisesa, that we are also formless and have no qualities. They want to say that we are also brahma and without form. That now we are called jiva and after that we will be brahma.
They want to prove these things using so much logic from the Vedas and here and there. So these arguments and this logic is just like wind. They want to cover the personality of Krsna and the jivas, but they can never cover it. Trnavarta wanted to cover Krsna and establish that Krsna has no form, no attributes, no shape, and no qualities. He wanted to do like Sankaracarya, like a mayavadi. But Krsna killed that demon very easily.
You should know that Krsna pastimes of are two kinds: aisvarya-mayi and madhurya-mayi. With opulence and without opulence. In Vaikuntha, in Paravyoma, Narayana-loka, there is so much opulence. There is also so much opulence in Goloka. In Vaikuntha, Krsna’s sweetness is covered with opulence. There, He is the creator of all creation. He is the supporter and nourisher of everything. He has six opulences. What opulences?
aisvaryasya samagrasya viryasya yasasah sriyah
jnana-vairagyayos caiva sannam bhagam itingana
-Visnu Purana 6.5.47
[Bhagavan is defined as He who possesses all opulences in full: complete beauty, fame, wealth, strength, knowledge and renunciation—all these qualities are manifested in Bhagavan to the fullest, unlimited extent.]
Among these qualities, only one is the wholesale quality and that is ‘sri.’ Sri means beauty. Then aisvarya, virya, and yasya are part quality. Then jnana and vairagya are part of a part of a quality. They are not qualities in and of themselves. But anyhow, we should know that these six opulences are in Krsna. But in Vraja, these are covered with madhurya, sweetness. Wherever He will be, all opulence will be in Krsna, in Vraja-bhumi or anywhere. But Krsnas sweet pastimes are so powerful that they can cover all opulence and Krsna will be like a baby boy or like a servant serving Nanda Baba, taking the shoe of Nanda Baba on His head and carrying out the order of all the Vrajavasis.
