In the absolute sense, darsana of Sri Vigraha takes place through the ears. Similarly, the service and worship to Sri Hari and Guru occurs more perfectly in an indirect manner, that is, in their absence.
When the wives of the yajnika bramhanas expressed their desire to remain with Krishna, He said, "By not being in physical proximity with Me you should deliberate upon My name, form, qualities and pastimes. In this way you will attain auspiciousness." Sri Bhagavan is conveying to the wives of bramhanas that viraha, or seperation, is higher than milana, or union. For those who attain face-to-face darshana, there is a possibility of mistake and misapprehension.
