Srila Gurudeva: Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but yet he always wants to give pleasure to His bhaktas, always. All other incarnations are not like Krsna. Anyone can worship Krsna, but Krsna wants to worship and serve His devotees. Any devotee has some idea that, “Krsna should come to my house and He should steal butter from my house.” That is why Krsna is coming there. Otherwise, Krsna will never come to anyone.
Do you know Duryodhana? He was so rich and once he made so many very beautiful and tasteful preparations of so many things and kept them in golden pots and golden glasses. There were so many ladoos, kachori, puri, makhana, so many things. But when he prayed to Krsna that, “You should take something,” Krsna told him, “I have no appetite, so I cannot take anything.” But even if there is no appetite but there is love and affection, then we can take anything. But Duryodhana had no love and affection for Krsna.
Krsna told him, “I have come for a task, to make a proposal for a compromise. But you have not accepted that proposal, so how can I take anything? I am not beggar. I am not hungry. I am not like this. So how can I take anything?” But yet, at the same time, after a moment He went to Vidura and he began to tell them, “Oh, I am so hungry. Vidurani Maiya, I am so hungry. Please give me something to eat.” Then Vidurani, out of affection she began to peel bananas and was throwing away the fruit, the main thing, and was offering Him the banana peels.
Krsna was eating these banana peels with so much love and affection. Like they were as sweet or even more sweet than the preparations He used to take in Dvaraka from Rukmini and Satyabhama. He was so absorbed in eating these banana peels. In the meantime Vidura came and said, “Vidurani, what are you doing?” Krsna told him, “Don’t tell her anything. She is in trance. She is fully absorbed in transcendental love and affection.” Then when Vidura told Vidurani, “What are you doing?” Then she came in consciousness and began to give Krsna the fruit and was throwing the peel away like normal. But Krsna said that, “Oh, now it is not so tasteful as before.”
Krsna never becomes hungry, but He wants to taste the mood of the bhakta. He never takes plantain, rabari, milk or anything, but He wants to taste the essence of all the fruits. What is the essence? Love and affection. If there is love and affection and he is not giving anything, He will forcibly take that thing. But if there is no love and affection, He will never take anything. This is the nature of Krsna. Krsna is not a beggar. He is full of all opulences, but yet He comes to Vraja to serve and to play with all His associates.
