Srila Gurudeva: Krsna has said that there are two kinds of words. One kind are transcendental words and another kind are mundane, material words. If we repeat the transcendental names of God and talk about His fame and pastimes—these words are transcendental. But those words that are uttered by only moving the tongue and exercising the speech organs to simply create air and sound vibrations are mundane, material words. But all the names of God, like Krsna, Visnu, and Paramatma are transcendental and they can descend on our tongues and dance there without any effort. These are transcendental words. By uttering these names, we will also be transcendental. We will realize the transcendental nature of the soul and Krsna.
We should understand and accept this truth that our soul is transcendental. We are a transcendental part of the transcendental whole. But although we are transcendental, infinitesimal parts of that transcendental Supreme Personality of Godhead, we have been separated from Him by the illusory maya of God. Therefore we have forgotten God and who we are. You should realize that you are not this mortal body. You can easily understand this. This is a transcendental word; that you are part and parcel of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and you are separated from Him and that is why you are drowning in misery.
In this whole world, even the president of America, the president of Russia or the president of any country of the world, any prime minister who has the most wealth in the whole world, any wealth minister, any one of them is not happy. They must die. They are facing so many problems. You have heard about Clinton. Although he had a very beautiful wife and daughter and so much wealth, he got involved with his office girl. Why? After this, everybody laughed at his bad character. Was he happy? Never, never. No one can be happy in this world because we have been separated from the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
You should try to realize this. Try to be transcendental. How can you do that? You can do this only if you are taking shelter of the transcendental word. What is that? The Vedas and other scriptures have revealed to us the glories of Krsna’s names. Many learned personalities can prove that this is true. They are practicing and realizing this and then they are telling it to the universe. If we will follow them, then we will realize our transcendental position. You will not have happiness by these worldly things, so you should try to take shelter of the transcendental words, “Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.” This is a very easy process, a very fast process for spiritual advancement. There is no need for any wealth or reputation to practice this. You don’t have to give so much energy either. Through this process, you can very easily realize your transcendental position.
