Nārada Gosvāmī gave one Name to Śrī Vālmīki, and we have been given so many mantras, but still we are not satisfied. This is because we do not have proper faith and we are not chanting the mantras properly. If we were chanting properly, we would experience satisfaction. Without chanting properly, how is it possible to get the fruit? How is it possible? After chanting two or three rounds, so many worldly problems and other objects of attention distract us. We should patiently chant, beginning from sixteen rounds, then thirty-two rounds, and then sixty-four. Then, after chanting a lakh (sixtyfour rounds) every day continuously, we should chant two lakhs, and then three lakhs. At that time you will be chanting all day, and you will develop so much taste. At that time you will not be able to live without chanting. This stage is called ruci—taste—and that means there is some progress. The seed has been properly nurtured and the sprout has manifested.
